Reviews of Virgin Atlantic.Virgin Atlantic Summary Virgin Atlantic is an air company that operates direct flights to the destinations all over the world. Besides seat-back televisions the company offers a lot of other amenities during the flight. Check-in times An hour before the scheduled departure the check-in desk closes. It’s also possible to check-in using self-service kiosks at Heathrow or online up to a day prior to the flight. There is a service called “Twilight check-in»: a passenger may check-in from afternoon to 9 o’clock in the evening which saves time in case if a passenger has to travel the next day early in the morning. Having checked-in, all he/she has to do is to be with a boarding pass at the departure gate 50 minutes before the scheduled departure. One may check-in at 8a.m.-1p.m. at Downtown Disney which is located near the Virgin Megastore when flying from Orlando, Walt Disney World. This service costs $5 for each passenger; the exception is made for Flying Gold and Upper Class passengers. In Hong Kong passengers may check-in using express train facilities at the airport at Kowloon or Hong Kong stations. When flying from the Caribbean some hotels check-in customers themselves, they also get their boarding passes and take their luggage to the airport. All the customers have to do is to arrive there on time, 50 minutes before the scheduled departure. Baggage allowance Luggage allowance depends on the destination. On transatlantic flights they allow 2 pieces of checked luggage weighing no more than 70lbs each and with the size of 62 linear inches in total. On Asian, South African, Australian flights passengers are allowed luggage weighing 44lbs in total. 1 piece of hand luggage (13lbs, 45 linear inches at most) is permitted. Charges for excess luggage vary from $100 to $160. Oversized luggage, fragile things, sports equipment are also charged for. Change to passenger name or flight To make any changes one has to contact the reservations of the company. Child fares Children under 2 may fly for a reduced price on an adult’s lap and they may have luggage with a total weight of 22lbs. Buggies are transported free of charge. The reduction depends on the destination, season and availability. There are no youth fares for children from 2 to 12. Infants from 5 to 15 may fly without adults accompanying them. In this case, booking is not possible online. Pet travel Animals are not always transported by Virgin Atlantic. Only dogs, cats and ferrets are accepted. They all fly as checked luggage in a storage compartment. They may now travel to Johannesburg, to/from New York- Newark, Los Angeles, Orlando, Washington, Miami, Boston, New York-JFK, San Francisco. Pre-assigned seating Seats may be selected up to 336 days before the flight either online or calling the reservations when booking. In-flight service Virgin Atlantic provides a whole set off services including drinks and meals; seat back television; a lip balm, socks, eyeshades, postcards, earplugs, and little bags for children in a kit.
