Reviews of US Airways.US Airways Summary US Airways operates flights to 11 places of destinations all over the world and owns airports in Latin America, the Caribbean, 37 USA states and Europe. Its hubs are located at Philadelphia International and Charlotte/Douglas. Check-in times A passenger may check-in using self-service kiosks, at the check-in counter or online within 24hrs up to 1.5hrs before the scheduled departure. One should have his/her boarding pass at least ¾ of an hour before an international flight and half an hour before a domestic one. Baggage allowance 1 piece of hand luggage a personal item (up to 36 linear inches in size) and 2 pieces of checked luggage are permitted for free but checked bags shouldn’t weigh more than 50lbs each and with their total size 62 inches at most. Change to passenger name or flight It’s possible to make changes free of charge online if a ticket is a refundable one. Within a day after booking a customer may change a non-refundable ticket for free, if later, a charge will apply. For $25 one may change the flight into the next one on the same day. Cancellations are made any time. A customer may use the money spent on the ticket to buy another non-refundable one within a current year but a $100 fee is charged. Child fares Children under 2 travel free of charge if they sit on an adult’s lap during the flight. A customer will have to book at the reservations and not online. Youth fares are available on some flights but generally, infants between 2 and 12 are charged an appropriate fare. Children who are older than this pay full fare. Infants between 5 and 14 flying without an adult to accompany them pay full fare as well plus a fee for traveling alone is charged. Children from 5 to 7 are allowed to travel alone on direct flights only. If the whole family is traveling together (2 or more members), only one pays a service fee. The fees are $75 for connecting flights, $40 for direct flights when traveling between or within US Virgin Islands, The USA and Puerto Rico, $90 for connecting flights and $60 one way for direct flights on transatlantic, Latin America and Caribbean routes. Senior fares Senior fares are offered to the ones over 62. Pet travel For a $100 fee domestic animals (only birds, dogs and cats) may travel as hand luggage with their owners or as checked luggage. A pet has to fly in a cage which is kept either under the seat or next to its owner. One animal is permitted in each cage. If a pet needs a muzzle to wear, it’s not allowed to travel. Animals have to be booked in advance through the reservation office. A pet should weigh 100lbs at most sitting in a cage, if it is heavier than that, it travels as a cargo. Cargo transportation is available in different destinations. Fares may differ on international routes. The company does not responsibility for health state of an animal in case it is affected by the flight. In-flight service Movies and video are available during the flight. Food and drinks depend on how far people are traveling. Meals in deli-style are offered for purchase. No drinks are provided if the plane covers less than 224 miles, on the flights covering 225-399 miles drinks are offered, and on 400-mile-flights a full service is provided.
