Check-in times The company recommends arriving at the airport 1-1.5hrs before the departure. Though check-in times may vary depending on the airport. One may check-in using self-service kiosks, departure gate or check-in counter or do it online. Baggage allowance 3 checked bags, one personal item (a laptop, a purse, etc.) and 1 piece of hand luggage are permitted to each passenger. Each checked bag may weigh up to 50lbs and be the size of 62 linear inches at most. Hand luggage should be no larger than 50 linear inches. A passenger pays: $50 per each excess piece of luggage up to the 9th; $110 per each from the 10th and more; $100 for each piece of luggage the size of which is 62-80 linear inches; $25 for each piece of luggage weighing 51-70lbs; $100 for each weighing71-100lbs; In case luggage weighs more than 100lbs and larger than 80 inches it’s shipped by cargo. Change to passenger name or flight What concerns refundable tickets, any changes and cancellations can be made either online or by calling the reservation centre. Child fares Children under 2 may travel for free if they fly on an adult’s lap. Youth fares are only available in the reservation centre and not online. They are provided to the ones 12-22 years of age. There is a form on the website to fill in if there is a child at the age of 5-11 traveling alone, it may be also done at the reservation centre. Senior fares Senior fares are for people over 65. They may be reserved either online or by phone. They also depend on the city though fares are exchangeable and refundable. Pet travel Animals are not transported by Southwest Airlines with the exception of service dogs. In-flight service On the flights that last at least 2 hrs snacks are offered. Hot and cold non-alcohol drinks are also provided on every flight, alcohol beverages may be purchased.
