Singapore Airlines Summary Singapore Airlines is the national airline which operates flights to 59 places of destination in North America, Asia and Europe. Silkair is considered to be its subsidiary and operates flights to India, China and Southeast Asia. Singapore Airlines Cargo is another subsidiary which transports cargo. Check-in times It is recommended to passengers traveling with luggage to arrive at the airport 2.5hrs before the departure or 1.5hrs prior to the flight if there is no luggage to check-in. Customers may check-in online or by text message (SMS) within 2 days up to 1hr before the scheduled departure. At Singapore Changi Airport one may telephone to or send a fax to check-in within 2 days up to 2hrs before the flight. Check-in facility is available at Singapore within 2 days before the scheduled departure. At Changi Airport Terminal 2, row 3 passengers will have to get their luggage ready to be presented for acceptance 60 minutes before the flight. Baggage allowance The amount of luggage depends on the class. In economy class passengers are restricted to 1 piece of hand luggage weighing up to 15lbs and the size of 45 linear inches at most. In Raffles and First classes one is allowed to have 2 pieces of the same size and weight. Checked luggage weighs 44lbs for passengers in economy class, 66lbs –in Raffles class and 88lbs-in First class. As for Australia, the UK and New Zealand flights, luggage shouldn’t weigh more than 70lbs each piece. KrisFlyer Gold members and solitaire PPS members may have additional 44lbs of luggage for free or double the whole luggage allowance respectively. Children are permitted to have 22lbs of luggage; a buggy, child food and a baby basket goes in addition to it. On Canada and the USA flights passengers may have 2 pieces of checked luggage up to 62 linear inches and 70lbs each. An extra piece of luggage may be taken by KrisFlyer Gold and PPS members. Change to passenger name or flight To make any changes or cancellations one has to contact the reservation centre. Child fares Children 2-11 are entitled to pay a certain percentage of a full fare. Tickets for infants are not booked online. Pet travel Only service animals travel in the passenger’s cabin. Customers may check-in their pets at the check-in desk or at cargo terminals. Pre-assigned seating Passengers may request a specific seat when booking for any flight but not for the one between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. In-flight service Within 24hrs before the scheduled departure passengers may order any food as a meal during the flight. Special menus are provided.
